Heather’s 2011 Recovery smoothie

I’ve been on a mission to incorporate at least 5-8 servings of fruits and veggies a day.  It’s been a huge success and I feel soooo good!  I’m also obsessed with grinding my own fresh spices – you get flavors and health benefits that you simply won’t find in the store-bought spices that have often been in the bottles for months (some for years).  When I don’t have time to actually cook up some veggies or I’m too damn hungry to wait, I’ve been kicking back one of these smoothies.  It’s full of protein and fiber and you won’t believe how good it tastes!

*2 scoops of chocolate protein powder (serving size varies with powder, but I shoot for 20grams protein…stay away from soy!) – Vanilla is good too but try the chocolate!

*1 cup of mixed frozen berries: blueberries and raspberries are my favorite

*1 freshly ground cinnamon stick

*1 zucchini (I know – just trust me)

*8-10 oz of coconut water, plain water, rice milk – or a mix of all of it.

Blend and drink it up!

Try adding some ginger to spice it up some. Love it in mine. Great for digestion too.

My girl friend makes a kale/dandelion and berry shake as a morning drink. If I find out her recipe I will post it. It is a good and easy way to get your morning veggies!
