Ok – looks like I’m back. This is the first post of what I hope to be many throughout the 2011 season. Thanks for checking it out and coming along for the ride!
I’ve had a simply unbelievable off-season – lots of fun new cross-training activities and positive life changes all around. I’ll tell you more about them some other time but for now, I just got back from the official grand opening of the second Ray’s Indoor Mountain Bike Park in Milwaukee, WI. I wasn’t totally certain what to expect since I was going to be one of the only females and cross-country athletes invited to opening – would I find stuff I could ride? Would I get bored? Oh HELL yes!
I left 2 unseasonably nice sixty degree days in Boulder to go to Ray’s but it was totally worth it. I was blown away with how much fun the park was. There is one large XC loop that goes around the perimeter which was fun enough, but I spent a lot of my time messing around in the pump track and playing around on the terrain park features: bridges and teeter totters! I won’t pretend that I could get serious air or hit any of the cool looking ramps and jumps, but I held my own and really, really loved hanging out with all the amazing people that came to play.
Here are a few photos from the park – thanks for having me Ray and crew!
Hey Heather, great chatting with you at Offenburg. We will check this place out for sure on our way through WI to OR. Tear it up it our home state – sorry we won’t be back from GE in time to watch the race. We’ll try for next year!
